Consiliul  Judetean Dolj - Dolj County Council

Dolj County Council is a local public administration institution organized on the basis of the Local Public Administration Law no. 215/2001 republished.
The Dolj County lies on a surface of 7414 square km, respectively 3,1% of the Romanian territory, being the country's 7th county in size. The Danube crosses the southern part of the county on a length of 150 km, also representing the Bulgarian border.
Dolj is one of the counties with an ancient tradition in the Old Romanian Country, whose existence - as shown by the name - was linked to a river - the Jiu - or more precisely to its valley - a real geographical axis on which there is the residence and towards which converge all the inner connections.
Administratively, the Dolj County is formed of 3 cities: Craiova - capital city, Calafat and Bailesti, 4 towns: Segarcea, Filiasi, Bechet and Dabuleni, 104 communes and 380 villages.
The county council is carrying several main powers, among which the ones concerning the management of the subordinated public services, by ensuring the legal framework  for providing the public services of county interest, including the education services..
Moreover, the county council can decide on the co-operation or association with Romanian or foreign legal persons, including other partners of civil society, aiming at funding and jointly carrying out certain activities, works, services or projects of local public interest, including education.

Agrupamento de Escolas Lousada Norte – Escola Básica e Secundária de Lustosa

The town of Lousada belongs to the district of Porto and lies near the right borderline of Alto Sousa, being thus between the coast to the inland, a plain region in the north and a north coast plain sub region.
The council, with an extension of 97,84 Km2, is bordered with the councils of Felgueiras and Vizela in the north; Paredes and Penafiel in the south; Amarante in the east and Paços de Ferreira in the west.
The city council is situated 42 Km from Porto and 389 Km from Lisbon and there are very good highways and accessibilities.
The council itself is characterized  by a mild climate typical of of this region which is essentially surrounded by valleys, standing out Serra de Barrosas because of its high hill. It assumes itself as the centre of the region denominated Vale do Sousa since it is situated in its geographic centre. It has approximately  44.712 inhabitants ( according to Census 2001 ) that are distributed within the 25 parish councils of Lousada.
It is the council with the youngest population across Europe: about 47% of its inhabitants are less than 25 years old.
Agrupamento de Escolas de Lousada Norte gathers a nursery school, 2 school centres, a primary school and a secondary school, which is the headquarters of this Agrupamento.
Lustosa, Santo Estêvão de Barrosas and Sousela are the three parish councils that are comprehended by this Agrupamento which has 1200 students between the ages of 3 and 18.
Its educative offer includes regular classes teaching, courses of education and formation ( Cef`s), professional courses as well as adult education courses.

The Marin Sorescu, Vocational High School for Visual Music and Art has been an organic presence in the artistic education of the inhabitants of the city.

Orizont Cultural T


Orizont Cultural T is a cultural association from Craiova, Dolj (Romania) , opened by trainers and methodists, university teachers, inspectors, as a result of an experience of involvement in Comenius, Grundtvig 1 &2 projects, Arion, Grundtvig 3 , Pilot Communitarian Project, Intergenerations events.
OCT is developing intergeneration programs for learners, young and adults, parents and grandparents, living in a socially and economically disadvantaged area , due to the concentration of "disadvantaged" persons and to the recent closing of many factories. Lot of inhabitants need to finish their education or adapt their professional competences to be useful for the society, towards a real feeling of solidarity for a better Europe.
